SWAP-ME are a set of unique and innovative programs, designed to help young people, E S L and Unemployed workers to receive knowledge in various fields like Safety, Security, First Aid, Tourism, Movie & Mobile Equipment Etc. As the program progresses students will acquire certificates for all the courses. The candidate will be able to gain employment with various companies throughout British Columbia. on successfully completing this program.
This extraordinary program will give them an opportunity to decide which career path they would like to choose. In a person's working life they will change careers approximately seven times. For a student or unemployed worker, life career decisions can sometimes be difficult. For this reason, we cover many topics that are job transferable. There for over 50% of the courses available have no expiry limit. The other 40 % have 2, 3 & 5 year's expiry dates.
Our student candidates could achieve over 40 certificates in only 12 weeks. The first 11 weeks are job training skills the final week is about self assessment and the employment market. We have designed a 4 week, 5 week, 6 week, 7 week and a 9 week program depending upon funding requirements and student capabilities. Also a 6 month diploma program.
SWAP-ME was designed to help the candidates feel they have made a significant achievement each and every day. This is done so that in only 12 weeks they have developed a focused and disciplined routine. At the end of the program they can face life's challenges with confidence and an incentive to improve upon already achieved accomplishments.
I myself (Director of training of Grace community College) have personally taken some job employment programs in the past. I found that most were very lacking in achieving a long term positive result. Mainly because the training was job specific and had no real job transferable skills. Poor design of these programs lacked the enthusiasm and the energy to build up the candidates self worth and confidence. The consequence of this situation just led to more future unemployment and misery.
